TAIWANderful 2012 (Day 5)

Today, we would be taking the 平溪 railway line. First, we need to take a train from Taipei Main Station to Ruifang and then change to a local train. We bought the one-day train ticket which allow us to hop-on-and -off different stations.

Bought this bento at Ruifang Station at TWD$70. it's not as good as the THSR's bento but not bad.

First Stop - Jing Tong (we did not stay long here, just went down the train to take a few photos ^_^)

Second Stop - 平溪

Delicious Taiwan sausage which we had not one but two!!

Nice quaint old town charm.

Third stop - 十分

There are many stamp print collection stations throughout the whole island and I've brought along two little booklets each for the kids to collect their own prints as a keepsake to remember the trip. Happy Stamping!

DY was obesessed this DIY nickle-plated souvenir machine as he would pretend to be driving his car with the moving "sterring wheel"! He would play this machine for at least 10 mins each time he sees it and refused to move away, we had to use all kinds of tricks and baits to lure him away..Hiaz

ZY writing on a 天燈. We chose a four-coloured lantern, WHITE - Wish, GREEN - Health, YELLOW- Career & BLUE - Kids.

My favourite place - 九份. We were very lucky as the infamous rainy town was rain-free the day we were there!!Yey!!!

Tasty yam balls soup, the hot one taste better to us ^_^
Poor MW who suffered from bad stomach last night had to carry the stroller together with a sleeping DY on it for this view..talk about the love of a father! ^_^

ZY's favourite - Taiwan jelly

Our dinner for the day - Mixed balls noodle soup. I loved the BIG one so much that I bought another packet back to Taipei for my supper! ^_^

This red glutinous rice ball on the other hand tasted very bad and no matter how hard I've tried, I can't finished it.  -_- Sorry!

Another one of my favourite, Ah Lan's Yam cake which was very fragrant. Too bad I just bought one. The shops at 九份 closes very early during weekdays, next time, we will have to come here earlier.

TAIWANderful 2012 (Day 4)

After our breakfast, we took the free High Speed Rail shuttle bus to Taichung THSR station.

Yummy THSR's bento costing only TWD$120.

Upon checking into our studio apartment, Pighome, located near to the Taipei Train Station we proceeded to the National Palace Museum, 國立故宮博物院. No photos allowed of the artefacts so we took pictures with the nice architectural buildings.

The kids also visited the Childrens' Activity Section for some hands-on fun.

We had our dinner at 西門町, Mei Guan Yuan Restaurant which is opened more than 60 years ago.

After queuing for about 10 mins, we ordered these..

TWD$280 for this palm-sized live oyster! Yummylicious!!!!

Bought this famous mee sua for supper. It's so so only..the pig intestine is too chewy =_=

We took a taxi to 龍山寺 as we were tired by now. I wanted to visit this temple as I've heard that it's a very sacred place. Bought a charm for ZY for a smooth transition to Primary school next year!

Finally back to our apartment. We would be staying here for the next 3 nights at the price of TWD$2500 per night. Quite reasonable considering its location and they even provides washing machine and detergent for our use! ^_^
