Nowaday, ZY is into beads.
She will lace the beads into necklace, bracelets, rings, handphone charms... you name it, she can/will do it.
It's funny to see her face full of concentration when she is threading the beads, as compared to her usual funny self.
She has made a charm and hanged it on her school bag which received many admired comments from her classmates. Her current best friend, Yuan Ting even asked ZY to "buy" one for her last week, so my dear girl pestered me to buy some more beads for her.
Here's the charm that ZY made today. Of course, ZY also made one for her favourite teacher, Mrs Goh!

Curious George Christmas
ZY always love the Curious George series of books by Margaret & H.A. Rey's. We recently borrowed two Curious George books @ Yishun library and one of it is in line with the Christmas season. So what's better than painting a Curious George portrait to celebrate the Christmas!
I realised today that ZY has better control of the paint brush and is able to manoever and paint all those tricky parts, for eg, the face. Instead of the usual "tapping" method of painting, she has now learned to paint using strokes.

Some Paintings
Was under the weather these days and ZY is also down with fever, flu, cough with lots of phlegm.. hence did not update blog recently..
Anyway, ZY did these 2 paintings last week.
This was painted by using sweetcorn, but the effect was not that good.

This was painted using those Styrofoam that wraps apple.

My Fairy Princess
We did this sometime last week. Not knowing what to draw, ZY suggested that we paint the fairy princess that was on her apron. This piece was a bit difficult for ZY as there were many areas that needed steady and precise painting. So I might say this was a combine effort from both of us :)

Me & My House
ZY insisted that we did a painting today though it's close to her dinner time. Hence, we quickly get ready all the material and got to work without any idea what to paint. So we started with a simple house and ZY gradually added the green grass and blue sky. Adding ZY's picture was a last minute touch up but I think it looks great. ^_^

Finally, ZY has mastered the "art of cutting" ^^

ZY's First Homework
Today, ZY's Chinese teacher, Ms Chen gave the children their first homework! It's a parent-child assignment that we have to do together at home. It's a simple task of painting/pasting anything that is blue in colour.
This is what we had done ^U^

My Sunflower
Today I suddenly realised that it has been quite some times since I've done any crafts with ZY. Looking back at my blog's archives, the last post on craft is almost one month ago! This lazy mum is at it again... she has recently found some really good books in the library and once she opens the book, she finds it really difficult to put down. Hence, while she is burying her head in the book, she lets ZY "free play" on her own. :P
So anyway, I quickly redeemed myself by doing this sunflower finger painting with ZY today. ZY really loves to get paints all over her fingers! ^_^

Bird...No! It's Bert!!
Hehehe..ZY requested to do painting today and when I asked her what she wanted to draw, she said "Bird". While I'm preparing all the paints and brushes, I saw ZY holding her favourite Sesame Street Thesaurus Book. It was then that I realized she wanted to draw Bert not Bird! ^_^
So I quickly drew the outline of Bert and ZY painted it. I will opened the book and asked ZY to refer to the book to colour accordingly.
ZY also cut some black craft paper and pasted it onto the paper as Bert's hair and crumbled some more for Bert's eyebrow.
This is the end result. Not bad at all ^v^

Noddy
We did this painting today as it suddenly rain heavily in the evening hence ruining our plan of visiting the library.
The trick of painting this is to paint the lighter colour first followed by the darker colour, the reason because the darker colour can cover any "mistakes" made by ZY earlier :)

Furry Elmo
Initially, I was thinking of only doing a plain painting of Elmo..
But I saw some red felt that I've bought from Daiso sometimes ago so decided to ask ZY to cut some thin strips and paste..
..and the result is a very very furry Elmo!

Scissors, Paper, Sponge!
I got this idea when I woke up one day. So decided to give it a try. First I folded a piece of square shaped paper and drew a simple pattern on it. Then I asked ZY to cut out the shape. (she needed me to hold the paper for her and guide her as the paper was a bit thick after folding)
After which I put the cut-out pattern on a piece of drawing paper and asked ZY to sponge paint over it. I let her chose the colour for the squares and of course it included one of her favourite color, BLACK!
The end result is a kaleidoscope of colours ^_^
