A Busy Saturday

At first we wanted to visit the Asian Civilisation Museum by ourselves without ZY, however this little girl woke up after a short 45mins power nap and refused to go back to sleep. Hence, we decided to bring her along and repeatedly told her that we were going to a place where there was no playground or rides. She would have to behave herself and not asked us to carry her around. She eagerly agreed as she was desperate to get out of the house!

Before we went to the museum, we detoured and went to have a late lunch at MW's favourite chicken rice stall near his old childhood house. This stall serves its chicken rice like a ball which is not common in Singapore anymore. MW loves the chicken rice here and he hopes to 'rub' his passion of this unique chicken rice ball to ZY. Sadly, ZY adamantly refuses to take a bite =_="

By the time we reached the museum, its already 4p.m. Unfortunately, its open house today hence there were alot of people. We were not allowed to take any photos or videos of the KangXi artefacts due to copyright issue, hence sori, no pics of the Imperial robes, paintings, seal of the KangXi Emperor etc in my blog :(

Only got this photo that I've copied from the official webpage of ACM.

ZY loves to look at the exhibits and had a fun time at Gallery 6 where there is a small section for the kids to have some fun!

We then took a stroll along the Singapore River and had our dinner at none other than our favourite japanese restaurant, Sushi Tei again! :D

Noddy

We did this painting today as it suddenly rain heavily in the evening hence ruining our plan of visiting the library.

The trick of painting this is to paint the lighter colour first followed by the darker colour, the reason because the darker colour can cover any "mistakes" made by ZY earlier :)

Class of '91

Saw this post from Joyce's blog and it really brings back many memories for me as MW and I have also known each other for a long time. We were classmate for 4 years in our secondary school at Tuan Mong High though we only started dating almost 10 years later! Most of our photos were still in my mum's place and I only managed to find this class photo in one of MW's album. We all looked so young then, MW definitely looks better then with more hair, oops *_* ,while I think I look better now. ^_^

A Short Meeting with Joyce & Cherrlyn

At first we had planned to meet at Novena Sq, then we changed to the little children library near my mum's place, but in the end we decided to meet at Bugis Junction... all because the curious mummies wanted to look at the pretty pumps that Angie had bought at a shop @ Bugis Junction :)

This is the second time that ZY met Cherrlyn and they really enjoyed each others company. They even held each other hands and went window shopping with their mummies! (photos courtesy of Joyce as my camera batt is flat)

It's so nice of Joyce to ask us out for a little meeting and I am really looking forward to our next meeting!

Furry Elmo

Initially, I was thinking of only doing a plain painting of Elmo..

But I saw some red felt that I've bought from Daiso sometimes ago so decided to ask ZY to cut some thin strips and paste..

..and the result is a very very furry Elmo!

Last Day of Term One

Last Fri is ZY's last day of school for Term One. So I decided to pleats her hair to make her "mei mei". (usually I'll only tie up her hair either in one or two ponytail as we are always rushing for time in the morning)

See quite nice right?

ZY also brought back her workbooks and these are some of her works.

This is ZY's progress report.

Frankily speaking, I'm more concern about her learning to play and sharing with others than what she had learned academically. Like I've mentioned earlier, my main purpose for sending ZY to playgroup is to expose her to more kids and learn how to interact in a group. So far so good, her teachers have commented that ZY is very willing to help others and act like a Big Sister to the others. She would even console the little girl who cried for her mummy and be affected emotionally by her crying!

Scissors, Paper, Sponge!

I got this idea when I woke up one day. So decided to give it a try. First I folded a piece of square shaped paper and drew a simple pattern on it. Then I asked ZY to cut out the shape. (she needed me to hold the paper for her and guide her as the paper was a bit thick after folding)

After which I put the cut-out pattern on a piece of drawing paper and asked ZY to sponge paint over it. I let her chose the colour for the squares and of course it included one of her favourite color, BLACK!

The end result is a kaleidoscope of colours ^_^

Little Miss Patriotic

ZY who has been to playgroup since beginning of Jan this year surprised me by able to memorise and say the Singapore's Pledge.

She can also sing the Singapore National Anthem though not as well as the pledge. I've yet to take any video of her singing the National Anthem but will do so once I got it! :D

Splash Park @SSC

We have been wanting to bring ZY to the newly opened Splash Park at Sembawang Shopping Centre for the past couple of weeks, but it always rain in the afternoon. With the fantastic weather today, we gladly hopped over to SSC and let ZY has her first try on playing in a wet playground. I've never let ZY plays in any wet playground before as I'm quite concerned about the cleanliness of the water. However since this is a newly opened playground and the staff assured me that they have installed a filter system, I'm willing to let ZY has a try.

I'm quite surprised that ZY was eager to play in the Splash Park as she did not enjoy her time at the Wild Wild Wet the last time we were there. Even though she complained to me about her hair and face getting wet, she quickly got into gear and was happily washing her hands with the water.

This is a rather big park and it is definitely bigger than the one at IMM. It also has a big dry playground and a fitness area at another side. Too bad my camera battery went flat before I managed to take any more pics. We will definitely come back soon as ZY really enjoy playing here!

From This Day Forward...

Yesterday was our 5th wedding anniversary aka Wooden Wedding. However MW had to attend his company function and so we had a post wedding anniversary celebration today :)

I suggested that we revisit the National Museum of Singapore as we had not been there since they reopened after the major renovation. The last time we've been there was during our "Par Tor" time and we even joined the night tour organised by the museum and had the rare opportunity to climb the infamous spiral staircase to the rooftop.

It's great to be back here, walking and appreciating the exhibits/artifacts leisurely without having to entertain ZY. Hee hee, yup, we left ZY under my mum's care and spent some couple time together today :D We reached the museum about 3p.m. and spend the whole afternoon there, after which we had cheesecake and sandwich at the Novus Cafe situated inside the museum.

After spending a highly enriching afternoon at the museum, we ended the day by having our dinner at Sushi Teh in Raffles City. This is one of our favourite restaurant as they served super delicious sushi and hand roll :P

BTW, for the record, MW bought me a LongChamp Tote bag that I've been eyeing for sometime for our wedding anniversary :D

Thanks dear! *muack*
