TAIWANderful 2012 (Day 7)

Time flies whenever we are having fun. Too bad our 7D7N Taiwan trip has to come to an end today. ZY has been complaining throughout the trip of how short our trip is and that we would have another day if not for the expiry date of my passport. So it's my fault! Haha!

Since our flight is at 4 p.m., we had some free time in the morning before we checked-out at 12 noon. We went to 國立中正紀念堂, a place built in memory of the late President Chiang Kai-Shek . It's a beautiful place with grand buildings, open space and beautiful greenery. ZY and DY had a great time running about playing and fooling around.

We also witnessed the change of guard ceremony at 10 a.m. We had never seen anything like this before, another great experience! ^_^

Time to say goodbye to the beautiful island, Taiwan. Overall. we had a wonderful trip blessed with great weather and we met many kind and considerate Taiwanese throughout the trip. I'm glad that we had this opportunity to travel as a family and I really appreciate this bonding time.

Till we meet again...Taiwan

TAIWANderful 2012 (Day 6)

We set off late today at about 10 plus as we slept till 8a.m. After a good night sleep, we headed to 北投溫泉區.

We need to change a train at Beitou Station. The special train is decorated with the hot spring theme with hot bath tub and posters of the history of hotspring.

We had a great experience on the nearby hotspring park with the local. Both the kids love to play in the lukewarm sulphuric water. I also took the opportunity to explain some geographic facts to ZY. ^_^

We even spotted a local bringing his pet dog for some spa treatment down the stream!

In fact, I realised on my trip that the Taiwanese really loves their pets, they are often seen in restaurants and the street. We even saw a lady taking a stroll with her pet pig on the busy street of Taipei!

We had our lunch at this Japanese restaurant situated near to the entrance of the park. To be frank, we chose this place as we were really hungry by then and the kids' menu looks interesting. I did not expect the food to taste good as it was situated in a touristy area. However, to our utter surprise, the food served was GOOD!!! The best meal we had in Taiwan so far!

The loin pork served in DY's kids meal was so tender yet there is a crunchy bite to it. I've never eaten pork with such a complex texture and I wonder how the chef cook it..

MW ordered this pan fried chicken spagetti set which was crispy on the outside yet so juicy on the inside!

Really smooth ice-cream that tastes just like frozen Rabbit brand candy. I almost licked the cup clean..yum yum.. ^_^

Compliment to the chef! We will definitely be back here again next time we are in Taipei. ^_^

Danshui is our next stop. It was very cold here with super strong wind. See ZY face!

ZY found her favourite snack again here in Danshui Old street. She is esctatic! Y^_^Y

Oops! DY found this machine again in Danshui and refused to move! He stayed firmly here for at least 15 mins while I queued for my 豪大大雞排 ^_^

ZY had a chance to play some traditional games that was no longer found in Singapore. They had a great time!

The kind old stall owner gave ZY this little toy when ZY failed to shot down any toys. ^_^

At times, DY would refuse to sit on the stroller and insisted on MW to carry him. This candid shot was taken across the street with MW shouting for help. ^_^

Since its our last night in Taiwan, MW and I decided to go to Shilin Night Market for some last minute shopping spree! ^_^ We found a shop that sell dirt cheap children's clothes and I happily spent my TWD here without having to look at the price tag! Heavenly...
It was a weekday so the crowd is still ok, not as bad as Feng Jia Night Market. In fact, MW prefers Shilin than Feng Jia!

MW finally found his long-awaited Oyster Mee Sua that he had been looking for ever since we reached Taiwan.

Back to our apartment for some serious packing. I need to squeeze all our things into 3 bags!
