Pregnancy @40 weeks

Bay Bay is due any day now. He is already engaged at the birth canal and is now taking his time to decide when is the best time to come out! Yesterday, I saw him sucking his thumb in the ultrasound scanning machine, too bad MW was busy at work and did not manage to accompany me this time. Dr Wee and I saw Bay Bay repeatedly putting his thumb in and out of his mouth, so cute...^_^ I immediately asked Dr Wee to print out a copy of the image so that I can show it to MW and ZY.

Bay Bay has not gained much weight since last week and hence still hovering around 3kg. Dr Wee was actually surprised to find that Bay Bay is already engaged as according to him, baby usually engaged at the last minute for 2nd pregnancy. Hence, he predicted that I might give birth soon.. Anyway, ZY did mention to me a few days ago that Bay Bay will be born on the 2nd of March, we'll see if this young lady's prediction is accurate or not! ^_^

人日 = 擂茶

Last Saturday is the 7th day of the Lunar New Year, which is also called '人日'.

Every year on this day, my parents will invite all my relatives on my father's side to our house for the traditional Hakka feast "擂茶 " It is also a chance for all the cousins to meet once a year and to catch up on each other busy lives. Most importantly for me, it is also very convenient to be able to give angbaos to all my unmarried cousins, nieces and nephews all at one go without having to visit their homes! ^_^

My mum will usually start to prepare the roasted peanuts and the belachan chili one day in advance and my aunties will come early on the actual day to help in the washing and cutting of vegetables. Its a major operation as they need to prepare enough food for more than 20 people! Though physically tiring, I can see that they enjoyed themselves while chatting and cutting the vegetables. ^_^

While the adults are busy, ZY and her cousin, Caitlyn are busy playing. ^_^

I Love Chingay!

We've got two tickets for this year Chingay Parade so we decided to brave the crowd and bring ZY and the heavily pregnant me too see the parade at the F1 Pit Building. After a long 20 minutes walk from CityHall to the Pit Building, we finally reached our designated sitting area (Promenade - Yellow Sector).

ZY was very excited as this was the first time she is watching the Chingay Parade in such a close proximity. As we were sitting quite near to the parade, we were able to see all the performers with their elaborate costumes and makeup clearly.

These were some of the highlights of the parade.

Out of all the floats, ZY loves this float with the baby cot the most! ^_^

The Finale! Fireworks!!

The parade ended one and a half hour later at about 10 p.m., and we reached home only at about 11p.m. due to the heavy flow of traffic. However, ZY didn't seem to be tired at all and eagerly showed her Po Po all the videos that we had recorded that night while chanting the line, "I Love the Chingay! Chingay, Chingay!" ^_^

Pregnancy @39 weeks

Bay Bay is now estimated to be 2.99kg and I've so far gained about 8kg.  Dr. Wee put me on CTG monitoring yesterday as I mentioned to him that Bay Bay has been slightly less active than the previous week. Luckily, everything is ok and my next doctor appointment will be next Friday.

As I had brought ZY along with me yesterday, Dr. Wee jokingly asked ZY why she had stayed in mommy's tummy for 5 more days and whether was it because she was very comfortable inside! ^_^
When ZY saw me strapped in the CTG belt, I can see that she was quite concerned. She kept on asking me what was that sound and where is Bay Bay.  I think ZY is getting inpatient and wants Bay Bay to come out soon! Well hopefully, Bay Bay will be out by end of next week as I'm feeling the pressure of walking around in a big tummy and gets tired very easily.

Pregnancy @ 38weeks

Counting down now.. two more weeks to go!!

Bay Bay is now at the estimated weight of 2.7kg. Since there is still lots of space in my tummy for him to move about, Dr. Wee predicted that he's probably too comfy inside to want to come out anytime sooner. ^_^

I've discussed with Dr. Wee regarding the banking of baby's blood cord as I wanted to know his opinion on this matter. Surprisingly, he told me that this procedure is actually not endorsed by the government and there is no guarantee that we are able to use the stem cell in the future for certain illnesses. I asked him if he himself will bank in his children's blood cord and he answered with a firm "NO".  Moreover, as Bay Bay is on the small side, there is also a problem of whether they are able to obtain enough blood from his umbilical cord to bank in successfully. If not successful, we still have to pay the initial $1,000+ down payment.. Hence, after discussing with MW, we will most probably opt out of banking the blood cord. Maybe we will donate the blood cord to the public blood cord bank instead, we'll decide on our next appointment in a week time.

I'm 4 Today!

ZY is finally 4 years old today! It seems like not long ago that I'm carrying a little baby girl in my arm and thinking when she will start to crawl, start calling me mummy, or begin to learn how to hold a pencil. Now, I'm starting to worry that my little girl will grow too fast and no longer need me anymore! =_="

Anyway, as mentioned in my earlier post, ZY requests to celebrate her birthday in her school today. These are the photos taken at the school. You can see that ZY is so happy!

ZY lovely classmates!
Posing with her favourite teachers, Mrs Goh and Mrs Sim.
Her friend Vivian sitting in the same 'Red' group.
Her favourite "little sister", Yu Xian.

Thereafter, we proceeded to the Zoo as promised...

No visit to the Zoo is complete without paying a visit to her favourite Intan, Hassan and Komali (the elephants' names)

ZY even daringly fed the elephants which totally took us by surprise!

This photo was taken by ZY (not bad ya! ^_^)

On our way out of the Zoo, we were greeted by a puddle of "GOLD". What an auspicious sign to the start of the Year of the Tiger! Wahahaha!

Later in the evening, we went to Northpoint for our dinner and ended the day with none other than the "must-have" Birthday Firehouse Sundae at Swenson. :P

ZY's 4th Birthday Party

We celebrated ZY's 4th birthday by having a small party at home for family and close friends today. ZY has requested to have another party at her school on 10 Feb which is the actual day.

ZY's Hello Kitty cake with fresh strawberry filling. She insists on having a cake with Hello Kitty figurines so that she can play with them after the party!

All her cute little friends and cousin!

Enjoying her cake, especially the fresh cream and strawberry!

Photos taken with her Ah Gong, Ah Ma, Gong Gong, Po Po & her favourite Jiu Jiu!
The moment ZY had been waiting for! Opening of presents!!

Pregnancy @ 37 weeks

I went for my routine checkup again yesterday morning. I've so far gain about 0.9kg from my last checkup 3 weeks ago but surprisingly, Bay Bay has gained almost 1kg! (from 1.74 - 2.6kg) Well, I guess all my weight gain has go to him. ^_^

We also discussed about my birth plan with Dr. Wee and signed on to the Premium Plan with the Admisssion Department. This higher price plan ensured that Dr. Wee will be attending to me from the moment I'm admitted to the time of delivery, rather then only attended by him upon delivery. Since, I've had a "nightmare" experience when I gave birth to ZY when I was attended by a list of medical officers, I don't want to go through the same thing again this time round.

Dr. Wee again suggested to MW to give me more household chores to do =_= though I'm already doing ALL THE HOUSEWORK!!!! MW happily replied that I should mop the floor more often which Dr. Wee quickly rebutted by saying that walking on a slippery floor is too dangerous for me! Hehehe...so from now on, MW will be in charge of the moping on Doctor's order!! ^_^
