A Night with The Merlion

To say that we are lucky to be able to book a night stay with The Merlion is an understatement.

Paying only S$150 nett (inclusive of 2 two buffet breakfast @ Fullerton Hotel) is just another bonus.

This unique art installation is a project titled "The Merlion Hotel", presented as part of this year's Singapore Biennale organised by the Singapore Art Museum. The Merlion is temporary enclosed by a 5-star hotel room in which MW, ZY and I had the opportunity to stay overnight on the 24th of April 2011.

Posing outside the hotel just before we checked in at 8.30 p.m. Can you see the tail of The Merlion? The head of The Merlion will be inside the hotel room..waiting for us. ^_^

Our dedicated "Butler"

and her love notes that she scribled on the welcome book.

A must-have family photo with the Iconic Merlion (our new family member for the night) right behind us.
In fact, it is the oldest among us, being built in 1972!

ZY and DY are both so HAPPY! Running around the room, totally not afraid of the gigantic statue at all.

All of our other family members are also as excited as us, and did not want to miss the opportunity of getting up close and personal with The Merlion.

My little girl looks really small beside her new found friend.

We somehow inevitably becomes part of the art installation, as we stand on the room's balcony (enjoying the magnificant view), while visitors and tourists happily took photos of The Merlion Hotel with us standing there.

No wonder a not-so-discreet place card is placed on one of the table, reminding us that we are practically sleeping in a "fishtank", visible to all outside, unless we draw the curtain.

ZY daringly bare all and bathed in the bathtub with the beautiful view and the occassionally passing bumboats.. while conservative mommy and daddy bathed with the blind down. ^_^

Singapore Flyer, The Merlion and the Art Science Museum. The Holy Trinity of Singapore Tourism?

A rather intimidating snapshot of the magnificant Merlion taken just before we were about to sleep.

Took these photos in the early morning before we checked-out of the hotel at 8.30a.m. and headed to Fullerton Hotel for the buffet breakfast.

A nice ending to our Once-In-A-Lifetime experience that I'm sure we will never forget!
Thank You, Merlion!!  ^_^

Reading Times

I brought ZY to the Woodlands Regional Library yesterday. ZY loves to spend time in the library, browsing through all types of books. She is now trying to read and would tell me all the words that she recognises in the book.

Found this interesting books by the author Marie-Louise Fitzpatrick, recommended by fellow blogger, Stardust. Simple sentences and cute illustrations attracted ZY's attention especially the books titled "Silly Mommy and Daddy" and "Silly School".

Recently, my brother brought back a book titled, "Where's Wally?" for ZY and our whole family is hooked on it! The book's illustrations are very captivating and it consists of games for us to search for the main characters. It's very challenging and really test our eyesight and patience. We have had great time trying to see who can be the first to find Wally, Wizard Whitebeard, Wenda and Woof!

We found this interactive CD-Rom from the library and is having great fun in the search and find adventure, scouring the virtual globe. I think we are hooked on it! ^_^

Cultural Enrichment Class!

We were at the National Museum of Singapore again last Saturday.

This time, ZY who is 5 years old now is more able to understand the exhibits and the history behind them. ZY also enjoyed watching some of the shows and kept on asking us questions about "what is this" and "why is that".

Looking at some of the toys from "our time" long long ago... ^_^

The father-and-daughter set, fooling around and making funny poses!

Most of the photos are taken without flash hence explaining the grainy effect.

ZY enjoyed smelling the different herbs from these special apparatus.

Till next time, maybe we shall bring DY along with us?

DY @13-Month Old

DY is now getting more demanding and has his way of getting what he wants. He will come to us and babble away pointing at the direction he wants us to go. If he is hungry, he will walk to the kitchen, making sure we follow him, and point to the bread or open the cupboard, taking out his biscuit and shoving it to us. He has also learn to nod if we ask him a question. He can also follow simple instructions like passing an item to his daddy/PoPo, waving bye bye, getting his shoes from the shoe rack. Even though he has not learn how to talk, he understands almost all that we are saying. He has also first call me, Mama on 18 March. ^_^

He is still on partial breastmilk and eat 3 main meals plus 2 snacks in between. I have just introduce baby yogurt to him and he simply loves it!

He enjoys playing with his sister but will occasionally fight for toys. He will complain to me by pointing at ZY and insists on taking back the toy. Hiaz..can't really imagine what's going to happen in the future.

He is now still hoving around 9.9kg, hopefully he will gain more with his increasing appetite.
For the record, ZY is 17.9kg and 112cm.
